“L’esperienza del cielo. Diario di un astrofisico” is a book by Federico Nati, italian astrophysicist at the University of Milano-Bicocca.
His research focuses on experimental astrophysics and cosmology at millimeter and submillimeter wavelengths. He studies the properties of the early Universe and its evolution by designing, building, and operating the most advanced instruments and telescopes to map the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB). he also measures the polarized galactic emission from spinning dust grains, both to study the role of magnetic fields in the star-forming regions, and to remove the diffuse dust contamination from the CMB maps. These telescopes operate from stratospheric balloons, the Atacama Desert in Chile, and satellites, collecting data that allow to study the evolutionary history of the Universe, the properties of large scale structures such as galaxy clusters, and how stars form from cold molecular clouds.
The presentation of his book will be held on October 1st at18:30 in Feltrinelli bookshop near Duomo and October 22nd at 17:00 during CuriosaMente – Appuntamenti culturali in Biblioteca.
