Lunedì 28 novembre 2022 si terrà il seminario “The hadronic contributions to the muon g-2 and the connection with the running of electroweak couplings” tenuto da Marco Ce' (Albert Einstein Center for Fundamental Physics (AEC) and Institut für Theoretische Physik, Universität Bern).
Abstract
The 2021 result by the Fermilab Muon g-2 experiment has confirmed the tension at 4.2 sigma with the SM theory prediction in the 2020 white paper of the anomalous magnetic moment (g-2) of the muon. However, recent results from lattice QCD do not agree with the data-driven determination of the hadronic vacum polarization (HVP) contribution, in particular when focusing on the so-called intermediate HVP window.
I review the recent progress in calculating the hadronic contributions to the muon g-2 and I explore the connection with the hadronic contribution to the running of the electromagnetic coupling and weak mixing angle, presenting the result of a recent computation of these quantities on the lattice that can help shed light on the muon g-2 puzzle.
