Special Seminar: The Enduring Importance of the Weak Scale

Abstract: I will review the essence of the Electroweak Hierarchy Paradox, which consists  in the tension between Naturalness to Simplicity. I will  focus on the Composite Higgs scenario illustrating how the tension plays out and emphasizing the importance of the next generation of flavor measurements. I will then sketch a scenario where supersymmetry and compositeness are combined. That way the tension is reduced, offering at the same time a qualitative dynamical explanation for the observed structure of fermion masses and mixings.
