The conference, organized by ABCD, the Interdepartmental Center for Gender Studies, offers a perspective from multiple disciplines on the topic of gender violence in its various forms (physical, verbal, psychological, relational, economic, symbolic) and in different contexts. It also analyzes less explicit and less marked forms of violence, encouraging a reading that is not superficial and hasty, but sensitive and attentive to the more complex and profound aspects of the phenomenon.

Professors from various departments, drawing on diverse theoretical and/or empirical research, offer significant interpretations, with a view to promoting a culture of respect and dialogue between genders and in recognition of the need for interventions that support transformative and growth processes.

Understanding Violence: Words and Actions Wednesday, November 26, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., in the classrooms where classes for the Physics and Astrophysics degree programs are held.

Faculty members will share video clips (produced by the law firm Wildside Human First, where Cathy La Torre practices) with their students on verbal and physical violence and will provide them with a short, anonymous questionnaire on these topics.
