Quality Assurance of the PhD Program

The Quality Assurance (QA) system for the PhD program is described in detail in the section of the University portal dedicated to Quality Assurance.
In line with the actions proposed by the University PhD School, the control and monitoring of the quality of the PhD program are entrusted to the Quality Control Committee to which the following tasks are assigned:

•    Writing the planning and organization document for training and research activities
•    Preparing the Annual Report
•    Monitoring the progress of doctoral students, their opinions on training and research activities, satisfaction at the end of the program, and employment conditions in subsequent years
•    Verifying, through periodic meetings with representatives from the labor sector, the consistency between proposed training activities and employment demands. In this regard, the group is called to collaborate with the Social Partners Committee of the PhD, composed of Dr. Luca Malgeri (CERN), Dr. Roberto Salerno (CNRS), and Dr. Gianluca Aranci (THALES ALENIA SPACE ITALIA)
•    Contributing to the drafting of the three-year Review

Following these activities, the Quality Control Committee is responsible for defining any corrective actions and proposing them to the PhD Board and the Department for approval and implementation.

Quality Assurance System (QAS)

The Quality Assurance System at the University of Milano-Bicocca aims to ensure the continuous improvement of teaching, research, third mission activities, and other institutional and management functions across the University.

The University of Milano-Bicocca stablished its own QAS, based on Self-assessment, Evaluation, and Accreditation, as defined by ANVUR in the AVA3 accreditation model, and aligned with the European standards set by ENQA (Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area 2015).

The operation of the University’s QAS is described in detail on the dedicated Quality Assurance webpage on unimib.it, particularly in the document "The Quality Assurance System of the University of Milano-Bicocca."

The Department of Physics developed its own QAS, consistent with the University’s overarching QAS, which is described in this section of the website. The departmental QAS is reviewed annually to keep up to date suitability, adequacy, and effectiveness in implementing the Department’s quality policy across the University’s three core missions.

To ensure the processes at the departmental level, the following officers are appointed:

They coordinate with the doctoral program QA to optimize the functions involved in the quality management system for doctoral training and project design.
