
There are three ways of profiting of the Erasmus program for students of the Physics Department of the Milano - Bicocca University (including all bachelor, master and PhD programs available):
- Erasmus study
- Erasmus traineeship
- Exchange extra EU (European Union)
Who can apply:
- Students enrolled “in corso” in the Bachelor's degree program (Level I)
- Students enrolled “in corso” in the Master's degree program (Level II)
- PhD students (Level III)
Students of all levels (Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD) may access a postgraduate experience through the Erasmus Traineeship call, under the conditions that:
- They apply for the call before defending their thesis
- They undertake the mobility within 12 months of obtaining their degree

Erasmus Study
During this program, students spend one or more semesters in a partner university, where they attend courses and take the corresponding exams. Such courses are integrated in the student study plan as if they were provided in Milano - Bicocca.
Applications open once per year, usually between the end of December and the end of January of the next year, for the forthcoming academic year (for example, to apply for an Erasmus funding for the academic year 2027-2028 students shall apply at the call that will open at the end of December 2026 and close at the end of January 2027). The list of destination universities is published in each call.

Erasmus Traineeship
During this program, students may spend a given period of time in a EU public or private institute working on a scientific subject, including those that are part of a thesis activity. European countries where the program applies are Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Norway, Sweden, Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary.
Applications open twice a year, usually between the end of December and the end of January and of the next year, and between June and July. The travel windows are published in each call and usually start about two months after the closure of each call.

Exchange Extra-EU
During this program, students may spend a given period of time in a Extra-EU public or private institute working on a scientific subject, including those that are part of a thesis activity, or attend courses in a University outside of the EU with which the Milano - Bicocca University has an exchange agreement.
Applications open twice a year, usually between the end of December and the end of January and of the next year, and between June and July. The travel windows are published in each call and usually start about two months after the closure of each call.

May I work on my thesis project during an Erasmus Traineeship mobility?
Yes, for any type of activities, including theory ones, the mobility may be exploited to work on the thesis content. The Erasmus regulations prevent using the this program for thesis writing only.
May I profit of the Erasmus Studio program to work on my thesis?
Yes, this is part of the possible activities one may do during the mobility.

May I change the Learning Agreement during my Erasmus Studio mobility?
Yes, changes may be done until the end of the mobility period.
May I take exams in the Milano - Bicocca University during my mobility?
Yes, but to take an exam in Milano - Bicocca one should physically come back to the home institute and it will be held back some of the scolarship. Also, you have to notify the offices that you intend to go back to UniMiB and the days spent for the exam will not account for the Erasmus support award.
May I change my mobility period during my Erasmus mobility?
Yes, the mobility period may be changed by extending it. The extension may be asked until one month before the end of the mobility by filling the documents you can find here.
Can I associate two courses in the foreign university with only one course in Bicocca to compensate the CFU?
Yes, you can! Remember that the association need to be approved by your Erasmus coordinators.
May I take courses from the master courses and other departments in which I am not assigned in the foreign university?
After the approval by your Erasmus coordinators, yes, you can!
I'm in the first year my bachelor and I will go on Erasmus on my second year. If I don't manage to finish the exams from the first year before the mobility, will I have to pay the penalty?
No, you won't have to pay the penalty but your Erasmus mobility will be cancelled.
What should I do if the courses I followed during my mobility are not in my study plan (piano di studi)? When may I change it?
All exams passed during the Erasmus mobility shall be present in the "piano di studi", and if they are not already there they need to be added during the available modification time windows.
